- ESTIMATE
OF COSTS -
- For: John P. Wood
- 1615 Jessamine Road, Lexington, SC
29073-9104 leejessamine@aol.com
- Gun: S&W Model 1937 .45
- Serial #187828
- Description of work requested: examine
and make any repairs necessary, including replacement of
worn or damaged parts so it can function reliably.
- Findings: This revolver was
assembled from parts that originally came from several
guns. Barrel/cylinder gap is .019" (normal max. is .008"),
the cylinder has excess end-shake and excessheadspace.
Cylinder stop notches are quite large at .106" and
the stop measures .100"; this is allowing lots of
radial play. Extractor rod is bent. Yoke is bent, yoke is
loose in frame front-to-rear. Rebound slide stud is loose.
Horrible trigger pull; DA sear is not fitted correctly
and the hammer has been worked over pretty badly but the
worst is from a badly mis-shapen and distorted mainspring.
A MINIMUM FEE OF $20.00
is charged for this estimate if no work is performed.
- Labor
Operations:
- Align bent yoke and set back cylinder and
yoke to correct end-shake, headspace and yoke
play.
- Fit new, oversized cylinder stop to help
correct some of the cylinder radial play.
- Set back barrel one turn to correct large
barrel/cylinder gap and set gap at optimum .006",
shorten rod and center pin to match, straighten
bent extractor rod.
- Replace worn, bent and distorted springs
as required, tighten loose rebound stud, re-fit
DA sear.
Test fire for function,
includes range time and fees.
