Tip-Up S&W Revolvers

New Arrival: Smith & Wesson Model No. One, 1st issue~6th type .22, s/n 7937 has a factory letter indicating it was shipped September 1859 to J.W. Storrs in New York. This lovely little piece was professionally reblued and re-silvered to as original some years ago. Presently, the pistol has beautiful markings and mostly very crisp edges with approx. 90% somewhat tarnished and faded silver on the frame. With 95% or more of the case colors on the hammer and trigger, and retaining about 98% bright charcoal/nitre blue on the steel parts. This unique and rare little ante-bellum revolver is in fine working order and what is more; the gun is equipped with a fine set of checking, aged ivory grips that although slightly shrunken near the tops, still fit the pistol very nicely. $2595. (antique)

Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Army, .32 rimfire, serial#13728 (circa 1863), 3 pin frame-this is a Type 4 (per the Ron Curtis' study.) The family lore behind this gun is that it was purchased in 1922 by the present owner's dad from its original owner, a Civil War veteran who lived in Clark County, Ohio and had lost a leg in the war. Unfortunately, that veteran's name is lost to history. The revolver retains fully 50-60% original bright blue with areas of grey patina and some pitting. It's cylinder is a replacement but is a good match and the revolver shows sharp lines, edges and very good markings. The rosewood grips are matched to the gun and retains almost all their original, amber varnish with minor denting and one tint sliver mising from a toe. The 6" barrel fitter's number matches the frame, its bore is somewhat pitted from the corrosive priming of its day, but still shows very strong, deep and distinct rifling. In mechanically excellent condition, hammer shows signs of a spur repair, very fairly priced at $1125. (antique)
Model No. Two Army (type 5): serial #49500, NRA Antique Fine to Excellent, 1867-68 manufacture, 5” barrel. Retains about 65% to 75% of the original blue, hammer, trigger and barrel catch faded to bright grey. About 1/4" is missing from the tip of the hammer spur. Very good barrel markings and clear cylinder patent marks. All major parts match, the lock-up is nice and tight and the mechanical condition is excellent. Grips are sound with little or no shrinkage, worn to about excellent with minor dings and retained most of thier original varnish. $1099. C05W-SW49500

Top-Break S&W Revolvers

32 Single Action, serial #41716, NRA Antique Excellent plus, 3” barrel has a somewhat dark bore with excellent rifling, I think it will clean better. The revolver has 90% of its original nickel, hammer and trigger are faded grey. Mechanically in fine condition. The early type HR grips are about very good plus. $495.00 C05W-SW41716

Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action 2nd Model #627. Here is a one-of-a-kind custom Smith & Wesson with 85% coverage scroll engraving by John Pease. Finishes by Turnbull in full silver plate with color case hardened hammer and nitre blued screws, trigger, barrel catch, etc. Checkered elephant ivory grips with beautiful carved S&W emblems right where they belong crafted by Dan Chesiak, who does custom work for Colt.

This beautiful and tastefully executed piece abides in its own French-fitted cherry case with a frosted S&W logo etched into the plate glass top, with an elephant ivory handled brass cleaning rod and a full box of 1880s vintage Winchester .38 S&W ammunition in wonderful condition. Antique. cpm-627 $3600.00

New Model #3 Target .32-44 caliber, serial #623, 1888 manufacture~1st year of production for the 32-44 caliber. 6 1/2” barrel has an excellent bore with some storage pitts at the rear end that are deep but may clean out better. NRA Antique Fine with about 60% to 70% original blue. Traces of case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard with the rest faed to bright grey. Equipped with the rarer, correct fixed-target rear sight and a tiny Paine bead front. All matching numbers. Mechanically in perfect condition, locks up well with a crisp action. The HR grips are about VG to fine with only one tiny chip out at the left toe. Factory letter. $2750. C05W-SW623

New Arrival: Smith & Wesson .45 Schofield, 2nd Model. Schofield s/n 4185 is one of only 5000 made. This is an old western gun that has seen lots of use. The original 7" barrel has been shortened to just 3¼", the bore is worn with light pits throughout with strong rifling and nice cylinder chambers. Proper US marks and inspectors marks and all the serial numbers match except the cylinder catch which (along with its screws) is a modern replacement. Mechanically this is a sound Schofield, the action locks up fairly well (cylinder is a tad loose radially) and the extraction system appears to work very well, though she could use some new screws to pretty things up a bit.

Outside the metal has now faded to smooth gray patina. The markings are all strong except the left side barrel markings have been ground off. Some bare traces of case color remains on the guard and the trigger has a lot of the original straw color left, the firing pin has been crudely repaired. Grips are serialed to the gun and are worn to about good but still fit the frame well, they have been sanded and there are no cartouches left. Overall NRA antique grading is good plus. No FFL req'd.

Hand Ejector S&W Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Target Model 1905 - 4th Change, s/n 667256, .38 Special, 6" barrel. This fine example retains about 95% of its original bright blue and 90% color case on the hammer and trigger. The small flaws are: a scratch across the sideplate, light cylinder scratch, small blems at the front plate screw and left side frame and the slightest beginnings of muzzle wear. The correct type grips are not numbered to the gun and there is one small divot missing at the top front of the left grip. The revolver appears to be in perfect mechanical condition with a wonderful bore and chambers. FFL is required. New price $749.
S&W M1905 4th change M&P 32-20 4" square butt. Maybe 70% of the original blue finish remains with some areas of light pitting and finish wear. The screw heads are all perfect, while the knurlings on the hammer and trigger are slightly worn. This gun is all matching including the grips, serial number 77412 puts this about 1915 production. The chambers are bright, with some pitting. The very shootable bore has strong rifling with some light to moderate pitting in spots. The cylinder is still quite tight, has no endshake and it carries up on all six. Original walnut grips have worn checkering but are very sound, no cracks or major nicks. Overall NRA fine and a nice all original piece. $300. FFL is required.

S&W M&P pre-Model 10 M&P 2" round butt .38 Special. This was built from parts, with the frame, sideplate, and yoke from C60207 (ca. 1948); the 2" barrel is C121032; and the cylinder is numbered C140629 so they are all late 40's/early 50's parts. This is a great shooter, has minimal endshake, tight lock-up and a .006" to .007" barrel to cylinder gap. I finished it in a light beadblast blue quite a while ago, and there's small amounts of holster wear showing on the barrel. Perfect bore and chambers. The hammer is .375", trigger is standard and it has a very smooth DA pull. It sports Pachmayr grips. SOLD
