Tip-Up S&W Revolvers

Smith & Wesson Model No. One, 1st issue~6th type .22, s/n 7937 has a factory letter indicating it was shipped September 1859 to J.W. Storrs in New York. This lovely little piece was professionally reblued and re-silvered to as original some years ago. Presently, the pistol has beautiful markings and mostly very crisp edges with approx. 90% somewhat tarnished and faded silver on the frame. With 95% or more of the case colors on the hammer and trigger, and retaining about 98% bright charcoal/nitre blue on the steel parts. This unique and rare little ante-bellum revolver is in fine working order and what is more; the gun is equipped with a fine set of checking, aged ivory grips that although slightly shrunken near the tops, still fit the pistol very nicely. SOLD (antique)

Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Army, .32 rimfire, serial#13728 (circa 1863), 3 pin frame-this is a Type 4 (per the Ron Curtis' study.) The family lore behind this gun is that it was purchased in 1922 by the present owner's dad from its original owner, a Civil War veteran who lived in Clark County, Ohio and had lost a leg in the war. Unfortunately, that veteran's name is lost to history. The revolver retains fully 50-60% original bright blue with areas of grey patina and some pitting. It's cylinder is a replacement but is a good match and the revolver shows sharp lines, edges and very good markings. The rosewood grips are matched to the gun and retains almost all their original, amber varnish with minor denting and one tint sliver mising from a toe. The 6" barrel fitter's number matches the frame, its bore is somewhat pitted from the corrosive priming of its day, but still shows very strong, deep and distinct rifling. In mechanically excellent condition, hammer shows signs of a spur repair, very fairly priced at $1125. (antique)
Model No. Two Army (type 5): serial #49500, NRA Antique Fine to Excellent, 1867-68 manufacture, 5” barrel. Retains about 65% to 75% of the original blue, hammer, trigger and barrel catch faded to bright grey. About 1/4" is missing from the tip of the hammer spur. Very good barrel markings and clear cylinder patent marks. All major parts match, the lock-up is nice and tight and the mechanical condition is excellent. Grips are sound with little or no shrinkage, worn to about excellent with minor dings and retained most of thier original varnish. $1099. C05W-SW49500

Top-Break S&W Revolvers

32 Single Action, serial #41716, NRA Antique Excellent plus, 3” barrel has a somewhat dark bore with excellent rifling, I think it will clean better. Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action First Model, "Baby Russian". Very early production s/n 265 with the extra safety screw hole in the right frame. The 3¼" barrel has a very good bore; there is some light freckling but the rifling is clear and very shiny. This rare blued gun with walnut stocks is in NRA Antique excellent with 85% plus original blue finish and strong traces of case colors on the hammer, most of the blue loss is on the cylinder. The factory letter indicates that this revolver was sold by Smith & Wesson to Smith & Wesson and that it went to the son of the "frame shop manager". The matching original walnut grips still fit beautifully and are about excellent with some small dings at both butts. A 7 digit number has been electro-pencil etched onto the front strap-possible an evidence number? A truly rare and unique Baby Russian with wonderful history! Antique, no FFL required. Price reduced to $1799.00!

Smith & Wesson .38 Single Action 2nd Model. s/n 101502. This beautiful piece retains about 90-95% of its original nickel plate with small splotches of flaking occurring in most areas. The 3¼" barrel has a near pristine bore with only the barest damages from poor storage. The breech face and ratchet teeth are so clean the gun may not ever have been fired. Hammer has strong case colors. Equipped with the ultra-rare red-mottled grips (not serialed to this gun but they fit very well) that are in very good condition, and sound. The markings are perfect and the action locks up like a brand new S&W. Antique, no FFL req'd. SOLD

New Model #3 Target .32-44 caliber, serial #623, 1888 manufacture~1st year of production for the 32-44 caliber. The 6 1/2” barrel has an excellent bore with some storage pitts near the rear that look deep but may clean up better. Overall NRA Antique Fine with about 60% to 70% original blue. Traces of case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard with the rest faded to bright grey. Equipped with the rarer and correct fixed-target rear sight along with a tiny Paine bead front. All matching numbers. Mechanically in perfect condition, locks up tight with a crisp action. The HR grips are about VG to fine with only one tiny chip out at the left toe. Factory letter. C05W-SW623 SOLD

Smith & Wesson .44 American, late 2nd Model s/n 26749. This is a well worn example of a real classic frontier Smith & Wesson that has had it's barrel shortened to 6". A small, gold/brass shotgun bead front sight installed on the rib gives a surprising good sight picture and the muzzle is nicely crowned. The barrel's bore is typically pitted but still shows lots of rifling, cylinder chambers are still in the original .44 S&W American caliber and the fitter's numbers appear to match, the barrel markings are gone. Looks like it has been missing it's butt swivel for some time.

Surface finishes are faded to a pitted grey patina all over. Equipped with a great old vintage, worn set of aged and checked yellow ivory grips. Mechanically this big-framed, top-break revolver is in very nice original condition, the cylinder times up perfectly and locks well, extraction and action operation are both very smooth. Antique. $2950.00

Hand Ejector S&W Revolvers

Smith & Wesson K-22 Outdoorsman First Model, s/n 645351, one of only 19,500 revolvers made from 1930-1940. This lovely example has been beautifully restored here in our shop by Dave Jr. and the revolver retains 100% of its as-factory blue and case colors. The only indication of it's previous condition is the tiny remnant of a very deep "dent" in the RS frame, just in front of the cylinder (see pics below.) The hammer has a custom wide-spur, likely made by a gunsmith in the 1940's who altered the original K-22 hammer. In perfect mechanical condition, this revolver also retains it's original checkered walnut grips which are of course; serial numbered to this gun. (Interestingly, the grip screw enters from the right instead of the left as with most S&Ws and this may have been a factory error-looks like it's been this way forever.) An FFL or C&R is required. REMOVED FROM SALE

Smith & Wesson K-32 First Model, the first production run K-frame .32 S&W caliber target model! Only 94 of this ultra-rare K-frame were ever manufactured from 1938-about 1941, which means this particular piece has to be one of the last guns made on June 26, 1941 and shipped to A.F. Stoeger in New York. This beautiful revolver is in pristene mechanical condition and had been fired very little if ever. When it arrived here it was obvious that the gun was virtually brand new before having suffered external rust damages to the barrel and right side frame during long storage in a bank vault in Montana. The piece has now had its surfaces and finishes expertly refurbished (a 1940's factory service dept. type refurbish) by Dave Jr. right here in our shop, the blue and case colors are presently 99.9% like-new. The only tiny flaws are the bottoms of one or two of the worst pits (see muzzle photo) and even these are almost un-noticable. The period grips are exactly the correct type however they are not serialed to match this gun. The grips do fit the grip frame really well almost all over, with only slight overhangs at the butts. Comes with a factory letter. An FFL or C&R license is required for purchase. $9,995.00
