COLT RIFLES

Colt .44 Med frame Lightning rifle s/n 3425 in 44 WCF, manufactured in 1885. The 26” octagon barrel has a worn, pitted bore with strong traces of rifling. Externally, the gun has good markings all over (the 44 CAL looks like its been touched up), the barrel and action are a nice brown/black patina, mag tube patina. The action appears to work fairly well, although the full cock notch is “soft”, we can see an obvious repair to the hammer thus, this is sold with the idea that the action probably will require work and is priced accordingly. Original Rocky Mtn. front sight and open rear are very good. We also noted the safety lever is missing. The walnut stocks are very sound but worn, forearm wood has strong traces of checkering pattern, buttstock is slightly undersize at the tangs and has the initials AW on the left wrist. Crescent buttplate. NRA antique good $895.00 ON HOLD
Colt .44 Med frame Lightning rifle s/n 5835 in .44 WCF, manufactured in 1885. 26” round barrel has a uniformly pitted bore with a slight internal ring about ½ way down, however the rifling is still strong. Externally the gun has strong markings all over, the metal is all uniformly grey with only traces of blue in protected areas. Rocky mtn. front sight has a replacement blade. The action appears to work well, although the full cock notch feels “soft” so I feel it may require some work and I suspect the extractor is faulty so this rifle is priced accordingly. We also noted the safety lever is missing. The wood is sanded undersized and checkering is about all gone, forearm is held on by brass screws, we would call the wood condition overall fair. Crescent buttplate. NRA Antique good plus. ON HOLD
NEW ARRIVAL! Colt Lightning rifle, medium frame 38-40 caliber, s/n 82610 manufactured in 1898 (antique.) 26” octagon barrel has a somewhat pitted bore with clean and strong rifling. Externally the gun has good markings all over, the metal is all bright grey with no blue remaining, rampant Colt on left frame is thin but there. The action appears to work perfectly, we noted a couple of small dents in the magazine tube. The buttstock wood has been sanded just slightly undersized and it is quite sound, checkering has been removed from the forearm wood. Crescent buttplate. NRA Antique very good. ON HOLD

MARLIN RIFLES

Marlin 30-30 Safety Model 1893 s/n 161853, 26” round barreled rifle “Special Smokeless Steel” with nice bore, some bore wear and light pitting. Case colored receiver with strong traces remaining, rest bright grey. Barrel and mag tube retain about 70% blue. Un-sanded stocks retain most original vanish with some wear and many scratches, comb shape has been altered slightly. Action is tight and working. Original sights, the metal is all nice with no serious pitting, nice crescent buttplate and great markings. Antique-pre-1898. SOLD
Marlin 38-40 caliber Safety Model 1894 s/n 15119, 26” round barreled rifle with an absolutely beautiful bore. The receiver has strong traces of color case hardening and the barrel/mag tube have turned grey. Rear sight is a Marbles replacement from the 1940s, front is original. Overall, the metal is all really nice with no serious pitting and great markings. The action is crisp and working very well. The rifle has been restocked with new wood some time ago and it was never fully fitted; it’s still oversize, leaving the opportunity for someone to finish it off correctly. Nice crescent buttplate. A nice Marlin in a rare caliber! Antique-pre-1898. $1149.00 00 ON HOLD
Marlin Model 1889 rifle, s/n 59725. This is a 32-20 that has been converted to .38 Special caliber and the bore is as-new. The original rifle barrel has also been nicely shortened to 20". The metal finish is reblued (not a great job) and it retains about 98% of that finish. The receiver is drilled and tapped on top for a modern scope mount. Rocky Mtn. front is new, rear sight is an inexpensive replacement. The wood has been sanded (slightly undersized at the tangs) and refinished. The action gun seems to operate well and it feeds dummy .38 Special (158 round nose) cartridges with about 90% reliability. Antique SOLD
