COLT RIFLES

Colt .44 Med frame Lightning rifle s/n 3425 in 44 WCF, manufactured in 1885. The 26” octagon barrel has a worn, pitted bore with strong traces of rifling. Externally, the gun has good markings all over (the 44 CAL looks like its been touched up), the barrel and action are a nice brown/black patina, mag tube patina. The action appears to work fairly well, although the full cock notch is “soft”, we can see an obvious repair to the hammer thus, this is sold with the idea that the action probably will require work and is priced accordingly. Original Rocky Mtn. front sight and open rear are very good. We also noted the safety lever is missing. The walnut stocks are very sound but worn, forearm wood has strong traces of checkering pattern, buttstock is slightly undersize at the tangs and has the initials AW on the left wrist. Crescent buttplate. NRA antique good SOLD

MARLIN RIFLES

Marlin 38-40 caliber Safety Model 1894 s/n 15119, 26” round barreled rifle with an absolutely beautiful bore. The receiver has strong traces of color case hardening and the barrel/mag tube have turned grey. Rear sight is a Marbles replacement from the 1940s, front is original. Overall, the metal is all really nice with no serious pitting and great markings. The action is crisp and working very well. The rifle has been restocked with new wood some time ago and it was never fully fitted; it’s still oversize, leaving the opportunity for someone to finish it off correctly. Nice crescent buttplate. A nice Marlin in a rare caliber! Antique-pre-1898. SOLD

Winchester rifles

Winchester Model 1892 rifle in 38-40 caliber, s/n 13293 (mfg 1892) 24” octagon barrel has a fair bore with visible rifling but it is pitted. Metal retains no original finish, it is pitted and has been “shined”, markings are all legible. The full length mag tube has obviously been replaced with one from another gun Original wood is somewhat shrunken but still sound, full of scratches and there is one serious chip missing from the front of the forearm, crescent buttplate. The action functions well. Antique. $895.00 ON HOLD
Winchester 1894 rifle, 32-40 caliber, s/n 889130. According to the book Winchester Dates of Manufacture by George Madis, this 1894 Model rifle was manufactured in 1921. 26” half octagon/round barrel. The metal surfaces are used and lightly worn, retaining perhaps 70-75% of the original blue finish with areas of the receiver turning a grey-brown patina and some light surface pitting. The markings are all there, sharp and easy to read. The barrel caliber marking is altered (over-stamped) to read 32 WS, we did a chamber cast and the chamber has been professionally altered to accept .32 Winchester Special. The walnut stocks are sound but have been sanded and varnished with about 90% of that finish remaining, along with an array of nicks and dings. The wood has been sanded undersized especially at the receiver. The rifle is equipped with standard, sporting open sights plus a Lyman folding tang sight and a globe folding front sight with ivory bead. Internally, the bore is in very good condition with strong-clean rifling present over very minor pitting. The faces of the muzzle and magazine cap are crudly engraved with a light scroll. Overall, this rifle seems to be in perfect mechanical and operating condition. The overall condition would grade at NRA Antique Very Good with the proviso the caliber-chambering is altered, with a premiums added for the spl order barrel and the sights. An FFL or C&R is required for purchase. Very reasonably priced! $975.00 ON HOLD
Winchester Model 1895 Carbine, 30-40 Krag caliber, s/n 64337. According to the book Winchester Dates of Manufacture by George Madis, this 1895 Model carbine was manufactured in 1911. Equipped with the correct 22” round barrel and appears to retain its original major component parts. The metal surfaces are used and lightly worn, with perhaps 50-60% of the original blue finish remaining with areas turning a grey-brown patina and some light surface pitting. The markings are all there, sharp and readable. The barrel has been drilled and tapped with two screw holes at about 45 degrees off top-dead-center for a sight or scope mount and the holes are filled with plug screws. The saddle ring is missing from the left receiver side. The walnut stocks are sound but have been sanded, though they still fit the metal reasonably well. There is an array of nicks and dings. The hand-guard is missing. The rifle is equipped with standard, military/carbine open sights. Internally, the bore is in fair condition with light rifling present in uniformly deep pitting and some heavy wear. Overall, seems to be in perfect mechanical and operating condition although there is a "tinnie" noise on cocking that may indicate the mainspring is failing. The overall condition of this rifle would grade at NRA Antique Good. FFL or C&R is required for purchase. SOLD
