Colt .44 Med frame Lightning rifle s/n 5835 in .44 WCF, manufactured in 1885. 26” round barrel has a uniformly pitted bore with a slight internal ring about ½ way down, however the rifling is still strong. Externally the gun has strong markings all over, the metal is all uniformly grey with only traces of blue in protected areas. Rocky mtn. front sight has a replacement blade. The action appears to work well, although the full cock notch feels “soft” so I feel it may require some work and I suspect the extractor is faulty so this rifle is priced accordingly. We also noted the safety lever is missing. The wood is sanded undersized and checkering is about all gone, forearm is held on by brass screws, we would call the wood condition overall fair. Crescent buttplate. NRA Antique good plus. $995.00 Reduced to $899.!
