Colt .44 Med frame Lightning rifle s/n 3425 in 44 WCF, manufactured in 1885. The 26 octagon barrel has a worn, pitted bore with strong traces of rifling (we test fired this rifle and it gave us a 1" group at 25 yards!) Externally, the gun has good markings all over (the 44 CAL may have been touched up), the barrel and action are a nice brown/black patina, mag tube patina. The action appears to work fairly well, although the full cock notch is soft, we can see an obvious repair to the hammer thus, this is sold with the idea that the action probably will require work and is priced accordingly. Original Rocky Mtn. front sight and open rear are very good. We also noted the safety lever is missing. The walnut stocks are very sound but worn, forearm wood has strong traces of checkering pattern, buttstock is slightly undersize at the tangs and has the initials AW on the left wrist. Crescent buttplate. NRA antique good $895.00
