Frame is sharp-smooth grey patina with nice sharp corners and marks, barrel is turned mostly brown patina with small splotches of blue. Cylinder is bright grey with some medium-heavy external pitting, new nipples. Mismatched straps (#29095) are all brass and intact and with good markings. Operates very well. Slightly undersized grips have no finish are smooth, sound and tight. O/A NRA antique VG. $1195.00

Colt 1851 Navy US martially marked 3rd Model, 36 cal., 7 ½”, 6 shot. All matching numbers 61399 including cylinder, lever, wedge and arbor. Excellent markings and military inspectors marks with a strong cylinder scene. The bore is very good; the usual pits but it has very strong rifling. The frame is all grey with large shiny areas in which you can see faint colors, barrel is blue-turning brown patina with lots of small dings and dents, cylinder is grey-brown patina again, with many small dents. Lever has strong traces case colors esp. under. Overall, all the edges and corners are quite sharp, this gun has not been played with. Grips are tight fitting with minimal shrinkage and the tiniest of chips at the toes. Mechanically this piece is excellent with vg nipples and the cylinder still has all six of its “pins”. O/A NRA Antique fine. SOLD

Colt 1861 Navy, martial, 36 cal, 7 ½”, 6 shot. Several hundred sold to US Army and Navy during the Civil War. All matching numbers 5766 including cylinder, lever, wedge, grips, straps and arbor. Military inspectors markings are almost everywhere; they still appear on the frame, barrel, wedge, arbor, cylinder and both grip straps. All grey patina. Cylinder scene is gone but patent-serial marks readable, barrel address very faint. Remainder of markings are sharp and clear. The bore is very good; has usual pits but strong rifling. Overall, all the edges and corners are sharp, this gun has not been messed with. Grips are tight fitting with minimal shrinkage, tiny chips at toes. Mechanically about excellent with vg nipples. O/A NRA Antique very good. $9,795.00

Colt 1860 Army martial, 44 cal., 8” barrel, 6 shot std round cylinder. 3 screw frame cut for shoulder stock. Matching numbers 72261 on frame, barrel, straps; the cylinder number is illegible but the cylinder carries the same inspectors initial as the barrel. The wedge number is only 11 digits away. Good military inspector marks on major parts. The barrel address is missing as is the cylinder scene, but oddly, the cylinder patent date is stiil pretty good. The finish is all grey patina with some external pitting on the barrel, the frame is a nice grey with little pitting and sharp edges. Grips are very good, with small amounts of shrinkage, they are tight fitting and have only small divots missing at the toes and butt. Mechanically, the action works very well, look-up is good and the nipples look good, I believe someone has ground the front of the arbor pin as when you loosen the wedge, its fit is quite loose in the barrel, if the wedge is pushed in, the barrel locks well. O/A NRA Antique good. $1850.00

Conversion Colts

Colt 1861 Navy Richards-Mason conversion to .38 CF, 7 1/2" barrel, serial #9059. Retains about 40% original which is nickel-freckling to light grey patina, the metal is in exceptionally nice condition, albiet the flaking detracts somewhat from the appearance. Matching numbers except the cylinder (which is just 38 numbers away) and the wedge. The bore is typically but lightly pitted, still, it has distinct and very strong rifling and the chambers are excellent. Traces of the cylinder scene remain. Very nice, one-piece walnut grips of Navy size have minor chipping at the toes. Ejector head is possibly from an SAA. The action is supurb, like a new 1870s vintage Colt! Overall Fine or better. consigned Antique SOLD

Colt 1860 Army First Model Richards rare - U.S. marked conversion to .44 Colt, 6 1/2" barrel, serial #36727/900. The finish is faded to smooth, dark grey with some pitting present. The conversion was done on a gun that had been cut for a shoulder stock. Correctly double-serial numbered and US marked and inspected, the revolver is all matched with the re-serial #900. Patent marks on frame are correct, and are a double strike. One-piece walnuts are very good but show the normal chips at toe and heal. Bore is pitted but shows rifling, altered front sight is mounted in a dovetail. Mechanical condition is very good, the wedge is loose and the barrel is a bit loose on the frame. Overall good to very good. consigned An extra rare martial Colt. SOLD

Colt 1860, 1st Model Richards conversion. 44 CF, 8” barrel, 6 shot. A factory conversion on an early numbered civilian gun. The barrel is a stretched one; it had been cut apparently to about 4 ½” and someone has welded on an extension from another 1860 barrel. Not a bad job outside, but the rifling does NOT match up. Numbers match on the frame, barrel, cylinder, ejector tube and straps but not the wedge and arbor. Faint but readable barrel address and good frame markings. O/A finish grey/brown patina with lots of dents and small rust pits. Grips have been sanded undersized and are loose. Excellent operating condition, has broken wedge spring and replaced ejector screw. O/A NRA Antique good. $2995.00

Colt 1860 Army Richards 2nd Model conversion to .44 Colt, barrel cut to 5 1/2", serial #196174. Retains about 70% nickel on backstrap, 15% cylinder and barrel, traces on hammer. Good strong markings and much of the cylinder scene remains. All matched except for the wedge. The bore shows strong rifling with somewhat less than the typical degree of pitting. Ejector screw is hammered over flush with the barrel, ejector head is an old SAA Bullseye. One-piece walnut grips are about good, overly sanded and with typical chips at the toes. This gun has a very fine action and it operates perfectly. Overall about Good +. consigned Antique $2795.00

Colt 1851 Navy, Richards-Mason conversion to .38 Rimfire, very LOW s/n 133 has all matching numbers. Retains about 40-45% original, flaked and worn nickel plate remainder gray patina with pits. Heavy holster wear at muzzle and butt. The grips are sound, original and worn. Very good barrel and other markings and it retains most of the cylinder scene. The butt is inscribed with a set of what look like departmental markings (J.P.D. No. 19.) Replaced ejector head. Gate and base pin retain the fitters #90, correct wedge is typically un-numbered. Excellent chambers, the bore retain very strong rifling with the usual period pitting. Mechanically thyere is nothing to make excuses for; everything works, the gun locks up very tightly and the barrel/frame fit is excellent. Antique. $3295.00
