dave@oldwestgunsmith.com Colt 1860 #72261

Colt 1860 Army martial, 44 cal., 8” barrel, 6 shot std round cylinder. 3 screw frame cut for shoulder stock. Matching numbers 72261 on frame, barrel, straps; the cylinder number is illegible but the cylinder carries the same inspectors initial as the barrel. The wedge number is only 11 digits away. Good military inspector marks on major parts. The barrel address is missing as is the cylinder scene, but oddly, the cylinder patent date is stiil pretty good. The finish is all grey patina with some external pitting on the barrel, the frame is a nice grey with little pitting and sharp edges. Grips are very good, with small amounts of shrinkage, they are tight fitting and have only small divots missing at the toes and butt. Mechanically, the action works very well, look-up is good and the nipples look good, I believe someone has ground the front of the arbor pin as when you loosen the wedge, its fit is quite loose in the barrel, if the wedge is pushed in, the barrel locks well. O/A NRA Antique good. $1850.00
