dave@oldwestgunsmith.com 1861 Navy, martially marked #5766

Colt 1861 Navy, martial, 36 cal, 7 ½”, 6 shot. Several hundred sold to US Army and Navy during the Civil War. All matching numbers 5766 including cylinder, lever, wedge, grips, straps and arbor. Military inspectors markings are almost everywhere; they still appear on the frame, barrel, wedge, arbor, cylinder and both grip straps. All grey patina. Cylinder scene is gone but patent-serial marks readable, barrel address very faint. Remainder of markings are sharp and clear. The bore is very good; has usual pits but strong rifling. Overall, all the edges and corners are sharp, this gun has not been messed with. Grips are tight fitting with minimal shrinkage, tiny chips at toes. Mechanically about excellent with vg nipples. O/A NRA Antique very good. $9,795.00
