Mauser collectors and enthusiasts have a truly wonderful resource in the books called Mauser Military Rifles of the World, written by Robert Ball. This new 3rd edition is the best one yet in a series that has managed to set the standard for collectors and Mauser historians alike.

One of the things that sets Mauser Military Rifles of the World apart is that it is alphabetically catagorized by country of use and this is a very handy feature. With it, a rifle that is marked as having come from a specific country can be quickly identified, and then easily traced back to the country of origin if it was manufactured elsewhere, as is so often the case with Mauser rifles. Included in each rifle's individual very complete specifications are its history and all the important details such as country and dates of manufacture, length(s), barrel length(s), markings, weight, caliber, sights, rifling and etc.. Most rifles have thier key features shown in clear photographs, further easing the chore of identification.

The amount of important Mauser data included in this work is almost staggering, I have found Bob Balls' book to be an invaluable research tool that is very easy to use and I use my copy on a regular basis.
Extensively covering Mauser military bolt rifles made from 1871 through 1945, this is a wonderfully well book that you will enjoy and learn from. This reviewer enthusiastically recommends all serious Mauser collectors, shooters and enthusiasts keep an up-to-date copy of Mauser Military Rifles of the World in thier library shelves.
